The character returned in John McTiernan's 1999 remake, with Pierce Brosnan taking up the mantle. While the subject matter shifted from bank robberies to art heists, the essence of the character as an effortlessly cool, independent wealthy titan of industry who stole for the thrill of it remained the same. Now, it's time for Jordan to put his own spin on the character.
"The Thomas Crown Affair" remake is written by Drew Pearce. In addition to Jordan, the cast also includes Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, and Danai Gurira.
Jordan has been linked to "The Thomas Crown Affair" for over a decade now. He was first cast in a remake of the film for MGM in 2016, fresh off the success of the original "Creed." The project has involved considerably since then, with MGM being acquired by Amazon and Jordan becoming attached as director as well.
Amazon clearly sees "The Thomas Crown Affair" as one of its biggest releases of 2027. The film has been given a similar March release slot to "Project Hail Mary," and Jordan was one of the centerpieces of the studio's flashy CinemaCon presentation . It's very possible that Jordan ends up carrying the studio to the kind of runaway box office success that Ryan Gosling and Rocky brought in 2026.
