Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry finally addressed the impact of LeBron James choosing to join the Philadelphia 76ers as a free agent.
James announced his decision to join the 76ers on Friday, as the other teams pursuing the 41-year-old have been left revisiting their offseason plans.
The Warriors have made 0 signings all summer, so missing on James was an even bigger blow. The 38-year-old Curry will head into next season with a huge burden on his shoulders.

Curry spoke with The Athletic at Moses Moody’s youth golf camp on Saturday, with Curry giving a short and level-headed response to James’ decision.
“That’s why you don’t envision anything until it happens. There’s a lot of moving parts.”
Curry implied that Golden State’s weak competitive future with the long-term absences of Moody and Jimmy Butler likely played a role, and that he’s tempering his expectation for next season.
“The through line. which is hard on anybody in this situation, especially with us keeping this thing together, is knowing that when Jimmy got hurt and Moses got hurt, the whole calculus of everything changes.”

“How do you get through their absence and still stay at a certain level? And then how that goes into this year? It’s the same deal. So I’m a realist on that.”
The second-half of the quote does make it seem like Curry is waving the white flag on any major changes heading into next season.
The Warriors missed the Playoffs last season after being sidetracked with Butler and Moody’s injuries in the second half of the season, when Curry himself was unavailable for most of the season.
Getting James would’ve provided a competitive pathway forward, but it seems the front office’s insistence on waiting for Butler and Moody to heal up might have cost them LeBron, and potentially another season of Curry’s prime.
The only major addition to the Warriors’ rotation this summer has been 2026 Draft selection Yaxel Lendeborg, with the franchise hoping they can remain in the Playoff hunt for when Butler and Moody can return and lead them over the top.
