RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Raleigh Police Department (RPD) said on Monday that a man was found hanging from a tree in downtown Raleigh during the weekend.
Investigators with RPD say they confirmed the death as a suicide and that no foul play was involved.
According to police, it happened Saturday afternoon on South McDowell Street near Nash Square. After officers arrived on scene, they removed the man from the tree and initiated life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The state medical examiner's office is now in charge of the case and will conduct a full investigation, according to Raleigh police.
