The Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft in order to select talented wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
Hunter, who played his collegiate career under Deion Sanders at Jackson State and Colorado, was one of the most highly-touted prospects in the class. However, there was some concern regarding his slight frame.
Hunter's NFL Scouting Combine official weight was 188 lbs.
Now heading into his second NFL campaign with the Jaguars, Hunter said he's put on about 10 lbs.
"Yeah, I put on 10 lbs. I was a small guy coming in. Everybody's like 'gain weight, gain weight,'" Hunter told reporters on Friday.
Hunter said he was "scared" about how the added weight would make him feel, but he still feels light on his feet.
"Putting in that work, it made me feel lighter on my feet when I finally touched the grass," he said. "I'm just happy to be at this weight and continue to play at this weight."
Hunter suffered a season-ending LCL injury just seven games into his rookie campaign. Now, he'll look to stay healthy throughout his second NFL season.
"I feel like he's confident in himself, in his physicality right now," head coach Liam Coen said Thursday, via First Coast News. "I think he's going to go into the season feeling more confident in what he's been able to put on his body, for armor purposes and physicality."
