See the full story · 1 sourcesThe Indiana State athletic department announced a $300,000 donation to the men's basketball program from the Wilkinson family Thursday.
The commitment will directly enhance the student-athlete experience by providing critical resources that support the continued growth and success of the men's basketball program.
"This investment from the Wilkinson family will have an immediate impact on the student-athlete experience within our basketball program," Indiana State vice president and director of athletics Nathan Christensen said. "We are appreciative of everything the Wilkinson family has done and continues to do to help elevate Indiana State men's basketball."
In a press release by the program, coach Matthew Graves said he was grateful for the support of the Wilkinson family with their commitment to the program.
"When we sat down with Leslie, she wanted to know which areas would have the greatest impact on our players and our program," Graves said. "With her generous support, we were able to address these needs, which will ultimately elevate our men’s basketball program and provide an exceptional student-athlete experience."
The Sycamores already received another donation a few months ago and now this one with the basketball program commenting before how much it helps put them on a higher tier for success.
ISU finished last season 11-21 overall and 4-16 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Sycamores bowed out in the first round of the MVC Arch Madness conference tournament at St. Louis' Enterprise Center with a 63-62 loss to Valparaiso.
The Sycamores tipoff this season with an exhibition game at Butler on Oct. 18 before hosting Rose-Hulman exhibition at Hulman Center on Oct. 24. ISU begins the regular season as Charlotte makes the return trip after ISU went there last season. That game tips off Nov. 2.
