The Spartans were at Big Ten Media Days on Wednesday, with a number of topics being discussed as Michigan State prepares for year one under new head coach Pat Fitzgerald. One of those items brought up was when will the Spartans officially open fall preseason camp -- which we now have an answer for.
According to Stephen Brooks of 247Sports, Michigan State will be taking the practice field for the first time on August 6. The team will report to campus the day prior.
Another interesting tidbit from Brooks' reporting was the Fitzgerald will have the players stay in Case Hall across the street from the practice facility for a period of the fall preseason camp. This is a change from recent years, with former Michigan State legend head coach Mark Dantonio doing this similar move during fall preseason camp.
Michigan State will officially open the 2026 season on September 4 against Toledo. Kickoff from Spartan Stadium in that matchup is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
