Liverpool considering move for Stuttgart winger Jamie Leweling before transfer deadline
Liverpool are monitoring VfB Stuttgart forward Jamie Leweling, according to journalist Patrick Berger .
The Reds want to sign another right-footed attacker before the transfer deadline after agreeing a deal for French forward Bradley Barcola.
Liverpool are open to selling Cody Gakpo, who wants to join Manchester City, but his departure rests on the club signing another forward.
They have added Leweling to their shortlist but face competition from Roma, Inter Milan and Everton for his signature.
Roma have proposed a loan with an obligation to buy for €40m (£34m), including a €5m (£4m) loan fee. However, Stuttgart have rejected the proposal.
Leweling enjoyed a brilliant season for Stuttgart last term, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances.
The 25-year-old was named in the Germany’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, but only featured once at the tournament.
Leweling is a fast, powerful and direct forward. He is adept at carrying the ball, attacking space and creating danger in transition.
The Germany international can play anywhere across the frontline, making him a good fit for Liverpool, with manager Andoni Iraola preferring a versatile forward.
He could play on the right wing and provide cover for Alexander Isak before Hugo Ekitike’s return from injury.
The Merseyside giants have also been linked with Senegal international Ismaila Sarr. Crystal Palace have reportedly rejected their £50m offer for the attacker .
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh is another player on their radar, with Liverpool having had two bids worth £50m and £60m rejected for the 22-year-old.
