Napoli are preparing to reward Scott McTominay with a new contract, with the Scotland midfielder firmly established as a cornerstone of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans.
According to Tuttomercatoweb , citing La Gazzetta dello Sport, McTominay has returned to pre-season training to a hero’s welcome, the Castel di Sangro crowd breaking into chants of “Scott, Scott, Scott” on his first day under the new coach.
Allegri regards the midfielder as one of the fixed points of his side, deploying him as a free-roaming central midfielder in the 4-3-3 trialled during the training camp, where his physicality, timing and knack for arriving in the box have again stood out.

The coach may even push him further forward at times, giving him licence to support the attack and link with the strikers, the aim being to get even more out of a player who has been decisive since arriving in Italy. That impact, and his evident attachment to the shirt, have won over club, squad and supporters alike.
As a result, Napoli intend to secure his future, though the contractual talks will wait until the transfer window closes.
McTominay currently earns around €3.5m and his existing deal runs until 2028; the club want to extend it to 2030, with an option for a further season. The Scot is said to be relaxed and focused on the pitch, but has already made clear his desire to stay for the long haul.
