The 2025-26 season was a bit of a resurgence for the Philadelphia 76ers , but that pales in comparison to the potential success they could have in the 2026-27 season with their refreshed roster. Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe are still there, but they have two superstars joining the team.
Those are Jaylen Brown, who they got in a trade with the Boston Celtics , and LeBron James, who they got in a blockbuster free-agency signing. It was a fantastic offseason for the 76ers and new team president Mike Gansey, who was the architect behind those decisions.
Mike Gansey believes his aggression in the market paid off
Taking over Daryl Morey is a tough job, but it seems Gansey has taken to it like a duck to water. He has made some smart moves in this offseason outside of the blockbuster moves. Getting Anfernee Simons was a huge deal because he will be one of the league's best sixth men.
Even getting Ariel Hukporti as depth for the center position and explosive scorer Caleb Love on a two-way contract, the 76ers have done well. Gansey was the catalyst for that, which is why he is happy with the moves he has made.

They were quite aggressive in the market, which led to them getting the players they wanted. Of course, that can be risky because they showed all their cards early on, but that won't be a problem because their gambles paid off.
"It's crazy in the NBA, and for me, I'm gonna pick up the phone. I'm gonna try and get involved in everything I possibly can and see what's out there and be aggressive, and fortunately this is where we landed," Gansey said after the Jaylen Brown press conference .
As long as the 76ers are doing well with their aggression in signing players, that can lead to a much better turnaround for the regular season. Head coach Nick Nurse will be in charge of that and Gansey will do his best to find ways to improve the team around the magnificent starting lineup.
