The forward Franco Mastantuono was one of the players who went into this summer with his future at Real Madrid highly uncertain, as the club was looking to send him to another team where he would get regular game time and thus continue his adaptation in Europe. However, the new coach, Jose Mourinho, wanted to see him firsthand in preseason training before making a decision about his future.
Now, almost four weeks after the start of preseason training, it seems clear that the Argentine is not going to remain with Los Blancos next season, and he remains likely to leave this summer. In this regard, he was recently linked with a return to his native country of Argentina, where his former club, River Plate, wanted to sign him on loan .
However, Real Madrid have ruled out any move for the youngster outside of Europe, as they want him to continue developing as a player in the most competitive leagues. In such a context, Italy could prove to be his next destination as MARCA reports that three Italian clubs, Fiorentina, AC Milan, and Napoli, are interested in him.
The Florentines have already contacted the Merengues for this purpose, while the latter two clubs have also shown an interest in him in the past. However, the choice of his new club will depend on which of these teams is ready to offer him the opportunity to play primarily as the No. 10, something that none of his coaches at Real Madrid have offered him so far.
A decision in this regard is not imminent, but the Merengues might not include him in their squad for the upcoming friendlies because they do not want to take any risks with him. Hopefully, Franco Matantuono will pick the best club for him going forward, and take full advantage of this opportunity to return to Real Madrid next year as a more accomplished player.
