Get to Know Your Orange: #6, LB Chris D’Appolonia

It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.
High School/Previous College: Seneca Valley/Toledo
2025 stats: D’Appolonia earned third team All-MAC honors at Toledo, playing all 12 games. He recorded 68 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, four pass breakups and a forced fumble.
2026 projections: D’Appolonia seems to be one of the chief generals for Vince Kehres. After following his defensive coordinator from Toledo to Syracuse, D’Appolonia seems primed to play a major role in executing the Orange defensive identity and vision.
How’d he get here?: D’Appolonia announced his decision to transfer in December of 2025. He committed to the Orange in January of 2026.
What’d recruiting sites say?: As a transfer, a three-star. As a high school recruit, a three-star by On3, a two-star everywhere else.

Interesting nugget o’interest: It’s always good when a player ends up on Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks List.” D’Appolonia got on there for recording a 21.94 miles per hour sprint speed, a 555 pound squat and a 34-inch vertical.
