SJPD confirmed Saturday the officer injured during a shootout at a home on Tuesday was released from the hospital.
The shootout happened in a home near Tamien Park. Police first spotted a Stolen Chevy Tahoe associated with two recent armed robberies.
After a short chase the suspect, identified as Anthony Chavez, crashed into multiple cars before running into a home while a family was inside.
Police got the family out and found Chavez hiding in a bathroom. That’s when they say Chavez immediately started shooting at officers, injuring Sergeant Matt Walsh.
Walsh and another officer returned fire, ultimately killing Chavez.
