New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel turned the page on Super Bowl LX, but that hasn't stopped curious minds from inquiring about whether Tom Brady spoke with Seattle Seahawks coach Mike MacDonald before the game.
In July, MacDonald appeared on The Dan Patrick Show and revealed that somebody "really helped" the Seahawks in their preparation for the Super Bowl. However, he wouldn't share the name of the individual publicly due to a "conflict of interest."
That led many down the Brady rabbit hole, given his longtime connection to the Patriots and the fact that the Las Vegas Raiders were hiring former Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their new head coach. WEEI's Zach Gelb reached out to MacDonald and asked if he was talking about Brady, and the Seahawks coach denied that he was talking about the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback in the interview.
And what about Vrabel? Does he believe that Brady spoke with MacDonald ahead of the big game?
"I mean, probably. He hired his offensive coordinator. That's not why we lost the game," Vrabel said, when asked about the rumors on The Greg Hill Show Monday.
"When he (Tom Brady) said, HE DIDN'T HAVE A DOG IN THE FIGHT, in the Super Bowl, did that bother you?" Patriots HC Mike Vrabel joins live! Does Vrabel think Brady spoke to Seattle HC Mike Macdonald? #fyp #NFL #news #Patriots pic.twitter.com/PqWZjiD0Jf
— WEEI (@WEEI) August 14, 2026 Vrabel was also asked about Brady saying he didn't have a "dog in the fight" when asked to pick between the Patriots and Seahawks. Patriots fans were clearly upset by the legend's response, but Vrabel, who still considers Brady a friend, sees it differently.
"No, [it didn't bother me]," said Vrabel. "I mean, clearly, Tom has gone out of his way to make it known he has a new job and a new role. It is really what it is. Tom's a friend. He'll always be a friend. He's a former teammate. But I mean, he's made it clear, like, 'I'm doing something new now.'"
