As part of roster cutdowns, the Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran linebacker Yasir Abdullah, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Abdullah was a fifth-round pick by Jacksonville in 2023.

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 30, 2026 During his tenure with the Jaguars , Abdullah has emerged as a core special teams contributor, playing 435 snaps over the last two seasons across five of the six different phases.
This summer, however, he found himself in a crowded linebacker room. As camp unfolded, it looked like Abdullah, Jalen McLeod, and perhaps even Jahlani Tavai were competing for one roster spot.
Abdullah had an impressive performance in the preseason opener against New Orleans, which included logging one for a loss, a sack, and a quarterback hit. He also helped create the disruption that led to the fumble by Spencer Rattler.
However, he took a step backward in Week 2 and then did not play in the finale against Tampa Bay.
Abdullah's departure could be a sign that McLeod will stick around.
