Newly released dashcam video shows a deputy crashing into a couple in Santa Ana back in 2023. SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Newly released video shows a sheriff's deputy crashing into a young couple in Santa Ana in 2023, according to court documents tied to a lawsuit filed by the injured pair.
Jan Tan and Megan Doan suffered serious injuries in the crash and have since filed a lawsuit.
Court documents reveal that Deputy Jeremiah Peyus was traveling 30 mph over the speed limit at the time of the collision while on the way to dinner.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department said it could not comment on the case because the litigation is pending. However, the department confirmed that Peyus remains on full duty.
"While the Peace Officer's Bill of Rights limits the information that can be provided, Deputy Peyus was issued and served discipline related to this incident," the sheriff's department said in a statement. "The collision was investigated by the Santa Ana Police Department."
