It might just be the best day of the year: it's opening day of the 2026 high school football season across Northern Kentucky and Indiana.
The Enquirer has spent the offseason breaking down the 2026 season from every angle. From top players by position and class, to top teams in each division , to our overall predictions and projections. Now, it's finally time to settle things on the gridiron.
Lawrenceburg travels to East Central for their annual high-intensity rivalry. Both the Tigers and Trojans have real title aspirations in the Hoosier state, but tonight their sole focus is beating their archenemy.
Highlands, the No. 6 team in Class 4A , has a tough opening test at Class 6A No. 4 Frederick Douglass. Tayden Lorenzen is a swiss army knife, leading what should be one of the top offenses in the state. Fellow Northern Kentucky powerhouses Covington Catholic (4A No. 5) and Ryle ( 6A No. 6 ) clash in a matchup that should reveal a lot about their new faces across the depth chart.
