Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown have developed one of the best quarterback-wide receiver tandems in the NFL . Since Goff joined the Detroit Lions in 2021, he has thrown for 21,451 passing yards — only Patrick Mahomes (21,787) has more over that span. And since teaming up with Goff, St. Brown has racked up 6,252 receiving yards, the fourth-most in the NFL since 2021, when he entered the league.
It's clear that on the field, they're next to unstoppable. But according to Lions wide receiver coach Scottie Montgomery, it's their bond off the field that's actually driving their success.
"These guys, their timing is correct, but their off-the-field relationship also gives us an opportunity that a lot of people don't have," Montgomery said . "The communication between the two of them is probably what makes them as consistent as they are. There are certain things, and there's nonverbal communication that happened between them now because of where we are in the offense, where they are in their relationship away from the building."

There were a lot of questions entering last season about what the offense might look like with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson leaving for Chicago, and the Lions did take a step back to a degree. But Detroit's passing attack with Goff and St. Brown remained among the best in the league. Goff finished with 4,564 passing yards (second-most in the NFL), along with 34 touchdowns and just eight interceptions, completing 68% of his passes. St. Brown, meanwhile, hauled in 117 catches on a career-high 172 targets for 1,401 receiving yards (fifth-most in the league) and 11 touchdowns.
St. Brown earned second-team All-Pro honors, and both players earned another Pro Bowl nod. Outside of maybe Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua in Los Angeles, there's perhaps no QB-WR connection as strong as Goff and St. Brown's. Looking ahead to 2026, the two appear ready to pick up where they left off and help get the Lions back into the playoffs.
