For a limited time, you can grab two excellent and well-reviewed roguelikes at no charge.
Sol Cesto was launched into early access last May, and, unlike plenty of other early access games, didn't take long to get fully released. Its 1.0 version dropped in April 2026, when it established itself as one of the best roguelikes of the year. It's set in a world that lost its sun years ago, and you descend further and further into a dungeon in search of that big glowing ball of gas and plasma. Each level of the dungeon is a 4x4 grid of squares that could contain anything from an enemy to a healing item. You'll have to rely on a mix of chance and skill to advance.
Polygon's Giovanni Colantonio called Sol Cesto a "dark horse GOTY contender" in his impressions piece when it hit 1.0. "[Its] look is modern and classical at once, and that’s how Sol Cesto plays too. It's unlike anything I’ve ever played, and also exactly like everything I’ve played." He's not alone in enjoying Sol Cesto , as it holds a Very Positive rating on Steam with over 2,100 player reviews.
Epic has another roguelike on offer this week: OTXO , a top-down shooter. You play as an amnesiac exploring a secret-filled mansion in search of his lost love. OTXO is in black and white, with the only color being your enemies' red blood, which you're going to spill a ton of as OTXO hangs its hat on being a brutal shooter. With a wide variety of guns, over 100 abilities, and a slow-motion mechanic, no one in the mansion will be able to stand in your way. OTXO has also been well received by players, as it has over 1,800 Very Positive reviews on Steam .
If Sol Cesto or OTXO catches your eye, all you need to do is log in to the Epic Games Store and claim them. The games will be free until Thursday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. EDT.
