It's a baking workshop that merges memories, storytelling and recipes together. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania -- Cassandra Burnett of Williamsburg, New Jersey is an expert baker, a businesswoman, an entrepreneur and above all else, a storyteller!
After years honoring her mother's legacy as Lizzie's Love Cakes, she's now created a new kind of baking workshop that's more than just a class. It's a memory in a recipe.
Cassandra says, "I'm an inquisitive person. I love learning things. I'll learn about people's ancestors and create recipes based upon their likes and dislikes and what they were known for."
She says it's about bringing people together. "I know sometimes in this current society, we feel so separated and sometimes lost and unloved. Through this workshop, we can connect with one another, we can share with one another , and yes, we can bake and we can honor the legacy of what they showed us, of what to do and what not to do and how their indelible marks are on us and how we are actually passing their memory on to other people."
