Bears guard Joe Thuney, the reigning NFL Protector of the Year, was named the 49 th -best player in the league in the NFL Top 100 countdown Monday.
“Mr. Consistent … He’s like a mastermind at the line,” Micah Parsons, the Packers’ star defensive end, told NFL Network.
Chiefs center Creed Humphrey called Thuney a great teammate in the video package released by the league.
The Bears have been thrilled with Thuney, for whom they traded in March 2025 after Super Bowl-winning stints with both the Patriots and Chiefs. He was one of the best guards in the league last year and slid over to left tackle for the team’s playoff game against the Rams after Ozzy Trapilo was hurt against the Packers.

During Super Bowl week, Thuney was given the first-ever NFL Protector of the Year Award, honoring the best offensive lineman in the league.
“It's awesome, especially a guy like that, a decorated veteran, a great guy on and off the field,” fellow Bears guard Jonah Jackson said last month. “The blueprint to what you want as not just an interior lineman, but an offensive lineman in general. Him getting it was great.”
Thuney might end up as the highest-ranked Bears player on the NFL Top 100. Quarterback Caleb Williams was ranked No. 51 and defensive end Montez Sweat was ranked No. 91. The league will announce two new players each day.
