Georgia's Gunner Stockton Sent NFL Warning by SEC Coordinator

Beck led Miami to an appearance in the College Football Playoff national championship before he was taken in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Based on his performance in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night, he could be rising on the Cardinals' depth chart before the regular season.
Gunner Stockton stepped in for an injured Beck during Georgia's win in the SEC Championship Game over Texas in 2024. He started in the Bulldogs' loss to Notre Dame in the CFP quarterfinal before earning the starting job before the 2025 season.

Stockton had a solid season as a starter, throwing for 2,894 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. He led Georgia to a win in the SEC championship over Alabama. He threw for 203 yards and one touchdown in Georgia's 39-34 loss to Ole Miss in the CFP quarterfinal.
The senior from Tiger, Georgia, has a big season coming up this fall. He'll try to impress NFL scouts while leading another impressive roster to the CFP.
An SEC defensive coordinator had a warning for Stockton before the season, telling Adam Rittenberg of ESPN that he's a great quarterback at the college level, but might not be good enough to play on Sundays.
"He's a great college quarterback," the coordinator said. "He's tough, so he can get some bull yards and take some big hits and all that stuff. I really like him, he's a really good player. I don't know if he's an NFL specimen, but he's a great college player."
Stockton has been smart with the football during his time with Georgia. In his first three seasons, he's thrown for 3,482 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He rushed for another 10 touchdowns.
However, he'll have to show more promise in the passing game to be a Day 1 or Day 2 pick in a loaded 2027 class at quarterback. The six-foot-one, 215-pound quarterback might get a shot with an NFL team as a Day 3 pick, but he'll have to fight his way to become a starter in the league.
