The Hotter’N Hell Hundred Bicycle event in Wichita Falls promises to live up to its name this year with forecast temperatures soaring above 100 degrees.
The four-day event starts Thursday, Aug. 27, and the trademark 100-mile endurance race kicks off early Saturday, Aug. 29.
HHH chairman David Coleman said because of the expected intense heat, 50 SAG wagons will be deployed along the routes with water and other necessities for the riders.
Besides Support and Gear wagons, he also said event leaders will keep an eye on the thermometer to decide if the 100-mile race needs to be shortened and diverted at Hell’s Gate in Burkburnett.
Coleman said advance registrations for the event were at about 5,500 this Friday, Aug. 21.
“So, the projection is we’re going to be somewhere around 7,800,” he said.
This will be the 45 th annual running of the HHH, which started as a small event in 1982 to celebrate Wichita Falls’ 100 th birthday.
The event won the USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Award for Best Road Cycling Event for 2026.
