Happy first day of August, TOC Nation. And happy first day of The Only Colors’ preseason coverage of Michigan State Football! Over the next five weeks, leading up to our season opener on Friday, September 5, against Toledo, the TOC staff is going to be rolling out a sequence of 20 articles to make sure you are fully prepared for the upcoming campaign. Our newly expanded staff – we are 6 writers now! – will begin our previews tomorrow with our position group breakdowns. After dissecting those, we will then get into the twelve opponents on our 2026 schedule. And at the end of August, we will share each of our predictions for the season, some odds from FanDuel for all the bettors out there, and we will also have an article with the predictions of other B1G SB Nation writers for their schools so we can get an idea of the expectations for our conference foes.
Before we begin getting you ready with all these upcoming articles, I want to see what your level of optimism is at this moment. Please vote in this survey.
I will then ask the same question at the end of our Preview Series to see if we have swayed public opinion one way or another.
After four months of scrapping for offseason coverage, I am very eager to be diving into this portion of our calendar as we count down the days until the start of the football season. There will also be articles outside of the Preview Series, so we will still be covering any news from our basketball and hockey teams or any recruiting updates or any progress in our search for a permanent athletic director. With that, it is time for TOC Nation to dust off your keyboards and help us make the comment sections an active place once more.
