Senior Chris Colsey returns as one of the state's top wide receivers and Connor Chojnacki, who split time at quarterback last season, is back throwing the ball.

[Reason to Fear]

Getting back to the playoffs will mean navigating a schedule featuring playoff teams Danbury, Staples, Ludlowe, Darien, Greenwich and Wilton as well as an Alliance game on the road at Maloney, which prior to last season had a stretch of seven straight playoff appearances.

[The Bottom Line]

The Tigers went 7-3 in the regular season and 8-4 overall last season, earning their first winning record since 2019 and qualifying for the Class L playoffs. They have some holes to fill, most notably at linebacker, but bring back a solid core and should again contend for a playoff spot in Class L.

Juniors Ari Sarup and Mark Crowley both started on the offensive line as sophomores and will anchor that group this season, with seniors Quinn Casey and Ned Eagle joining them.

The wide receivers competing for targets with Colsey will be seniors Tommy Lunn and Nolan Queenan, who both have varsity experience, junior Harrison Knibbe and sophomore Ryan Watters.

While they are replacing graduating linebackers, the defensive line returns several players, highlighted by Casey. The secondary is the strength of the defense with experienced athletes like Colsey, Brodie Block and Luke Queenan.

For the first time since 2004, Ridgefield will renew its border rivalry with Wilton on Thanksgiving Eve in a game that could carry major playoff implications.
