After making the World Series last season, things have gone according to plan for the Toronto Blue Jays this year. While they had their sights set on making another deep run in the postseason, they have quite a bit of work to do.
The club has been missing some key pieces that helped them last season, like Bo Bichette and Chris Bassitt, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer have taken a step back this year.
And after trading away Kevin Gausman, Daulton Varsho, and Jeff Hoffman, things likely aren't going to get any easier, especially as they are already 3.5 games out of an AL wild card spot.

Last week, the Blue Jays had a full slate on their schedule. They took on the Houston Astros in a three-game series, took on the Chicago Cubs in a makeup game, and then finished off with a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies .
They were able to win the series 2-1 against the Astros, but fell to the Cubs before rebounding against the Phillies, winning that series 2-1. But with a 4-3 week, it didn't help move them up or down the power rankings, according to Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter , who keeps them at No. 21.
"The Blue Jays' next 13 games are against the Boston Red Sox , New York Yankees , Tampa Bay Rays , and Yankees again. They played some of their best baseball of the year on the road last week with a pair of series wins over contenders, and if they can weather the next two weeks, they have one of the easiest schedules in baseball the rest of the way. Could they still sneak into the wild-card conversation?"
Now Toronto is going to have to buckle down over the next few weeks as they have some tough matchups. But if they can manage, they set themselves up to potentially coast the rest of the way with an easier schedule.
