As the media circus around Caitlin Clark reaches a fever pitch, Kelsey Mitchell is offering a much-needed reality check.
Kelsey Mitchell is putting up a career-defining season for the Indiana Fever. Averaging over 24 points per game, the veteran guard recently set a WNBA record with 17 consecutive 20-point performances.
Despite sharing the same backcourt, Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark experience two completely different realities under the media spotlight.
Mitchell garners steady respect for her veteran consistency, flying relatively under the radar. Clark, meanwhile, lives under an intense microscopic lens. Every missed shot, turnover, or technical foul sparks endless hot takes and harsh backlash.
Kelsey Mitchell takes a stand on the Caitlin Clark criticism
Indiana Fever star Kelsey Mitchell has spoken out on her “genuine” connection with Caitlin Clark as a person, silencing any of the critics.
She said: “I think the one thing about CC and her career is that people have already been judging her, and she’s just really getting started. So, my job is to not be that (judgmental) person.”
Even Dave Portnoy pointed out how the WNBA are treating Caitlin Clark like a piece of trash after her technical foul that was rescinded recently.
And Clark standing up for Stephanie White didn’t help her cause with the general WNBA support base, as many see the Indiana Fever head coach as being in the wrong for the Sophie Cunningham incident.
