New England Patriots left tackle and 2025 first-round draft selection Will Campbell took advantage of opportunities outside of the organization this offseason, training with NFL veterans in Dallas, he told media members on Sunday.
“A ton of knowledge,” Will Campbell said after Sunday’s practice about what he took away from the experience. “I work with a lot of guys who have been around a long time and done it at a high level for a long time. So just anything that they could teach me that could help me.
“Or whether that’s football or off the field, or just training and just being around in the same environment. I always want to put myself in the best position possible.”
Lane Johnson, Tristan Wirfs, Rashawn Slater and New York Jets 2025 first-round pick Armand Membou invited Campbell south of Foxboro, where the group trained with the world’s strongest man, Mitchell Hooper, and a former Navy SEAL.
While training, Campbell strengthened his relationships with the veterans who were present, saying he feels that he can always reach out to them if needed.
Before traveling to Dallas, the 22-year-old told the media during voluntary OTAs that he underwent physical therapy five days a week throughout the offseason to recover from a torn MCL in 2025.
Campbell suffered the injury during Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Still, the second-year lineman quickly returned for New England’s postseason run, but his effectiveness dipped during those final five contests.
In his first 12 games last season, Campbell posted a 76.1 pass-blocking grade on Pro Football Focus ; however, that number drastically decreased to 39.2 following the injury.
Entering training camp, the LSU product said he’s feeling “great” when asked about his recovery.
“It’s exciting,” Campbell said about being back in Foxboro. “[It’s] good to be back. Good to see everybody. [I’m] excited about what we have, and I’m ready to go.”
One of Campbell’s goals for the summer sessions is to further build his chemistry with starting left guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, who was signed to a multi-year deal in free agency .
Though the two are still early in that process, as Vera-Tucker was limited in his participation through most of the spring, recovering from a torn triceps.
“Just continue to grow every day,” Campbell said of his goals. “Just me and [Alijah Vera-Tucker] continuing to get comfortable playing next to each other and just doing my job to the best of my ability.”
The left-side tandem will look to build on the Patriots’ offensive line improvement from 2025.
