Terrance Ferguson is giving the Rams a lot to like as training camp continues, and his latest practice could be another sign that the tight end is heading toward a bigger role in Year 2.
According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram , Ferguson was involved throughout the day during the team's joint practice with the Cowboys and made several plays in the passing game. He picked up modest gains on crossing routes and curls before breaking loose on a deep crossing route for a much bigger play. Harris believed that one came after a busted coverage, but Ferguson still took advantage of the chance.

That wasn't his only notable moment, either. Ferguson also shook Donovan Ezeiruaku in drop coverage on a wheel route for a big gain. It's the kind of matchup that should favor the tight end, and Ferguson made the most of it.
Those plays are a good sign as Ferguson continues to establish himself in the Rams' offense.
There's a chance for him to become an important piece of the passing game this season, particularly because the offense doesn't have a true No. 3 receiver alongside Davante Adams and Puka Nacua. That could leave various opportunities for Ferguson to get involved.
His ability to make plays on different types of routes only makes that possibility more interesting. Ferguson wasn't simply making catches in one area of the field. He was finding space on crossing routes, working underneath on curls and showing the ability to turn a wheel route into a significant gain. For a player entering his second season, that's a real development.
