NFL insider provides update on Commanders' wide receiver interest
The Washington Commanders are preparing for training camp , but the roster may not be done taking shape just yet.
For much of the offseason, the Commanders have been linked to big-name wide receivers . Whether it was a dark horse destination for Alec Pierce or perhaps bringing Stefon Diggs back to the DMV, there's been a ton of smoke. Plus, we all know about the Brandon Aiyuk drama, but it seems unlikely that anything gets done on that front right now.
But looking at the roster, it'd be hard not to think the Commanders need another receiver or two. Other than Terry McLaurin, there is pretty much no proven option. Dyami Brown is back, but he's just an occasional deep threat, and rookie Antonio Williams is impressive, but you don't want to rely on a rookie yet.
As a result, the receiver position keeps getting talked about. Will the team finally pull the trigger on Diggs or another veteran?
ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler appeared on "The Kevin Sheehan Show" on Monday and offered his opinion.

Interestingly, Fowler noted that he spoke to people around the team earlier this offseason about the receiver room, and he was told the team was waiting until training camp. Well, camp kicks off on Wednesday, so if a move is going to happen, it should be soon.
Diggs is the premier free agent available, but Fowler also floated Keenan Allen and Tyreek Hill as possible options.
"I still think Keenan Allen could be a viable option... Tyreek Hill's not close to playing right now, but he will be ready at some point," Fowler continued.
Diggs, Allen, or Hill would all greatly help this receiver room. Diggs makes the most sense because of his DMV connection and his track record as a reliable weapon for young quarterbacks. Either way, it seems like we'll know something soon.
