Amazon-MGM Studios released the first footage from Ali G: Who Iz I? (below), which returns Cohen's hip-hop journalist character in a feature film "documentary" following Cohen as he unleashes Ali G on an unsuspecting public.
"I've been gone for 20 years, chilling," Cohen narrates as Ali G. "And in that time, the world went to crap. There's been Wars. Covid. And Ed Sheeran. I'm going to get back on top with a brand new thing called a 'documentary.' For the first time ever, this is with real people not actors. For more than a year we let the cameras follow me everywhere. The footage includes Cohen's taking classes, walking the streets, and going on various shows as Ali G (occasionally accompanied by a very pregnant-looking girlfriend, played by British comedian Morgana Robinson).
"It got the very latest firearms technology, action, drama, heartbreak, plot twists and the very latest TikTok trends," Cohen adds.
News first leaked that Cohen would be making another Ali G project in July and he was spotted in character attending Wimbledon.
Cohen first introduced Ali G on Channel 4's The 11 O'Clock Show in 1998. Two years later, Cohen got his own series, Da Ali G Show , a sketch comedy series that included the character. Cohen also had a 2002 feature, Ali G Indahouse , but it was another Ali G Show character, Borat Sagdiyev, who would propel Cohen to global fame with the release of 2006's Borat and its 2020 sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm .
Ali G: Who Iz I? will be released in theaters Oct. 23.
