Head coach Jordan Szabo continues to build up the women's tennis program on the Plains. After a year of historic achievements for the Tigers, they land a big piece for the upcoming season with Maya Iyengar.
She is joining a team that has growing expectations and championship goals. Iyengar spoke on her signing to the Tigers and how she is excited to be with this coaching staff at Auburn.
“I’m extremely excited to join the Auburn Family and begin this next chapter of my career,” Iyengar said. “From the start, I felt like Auburn was the perfect place to continue developing my game and challenge myself every day. I’m so grateful to Coach Szabo and the entire coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to get to work, keep growing as a player, and represent Auburn. War Eagle!”
A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, she holds a career-high ITF singles ranking of No. 69 and No. 727 WTA singles ranking. Iyengar has played in many junior events and at the professional level. She claimed the J300 Houston Pan American Championship, while she has also made final appearances in singles and doubles at the U18 Billie Jean King Championship.
