Scottie Scheffler exerted his dominance at the FedEx St. Jude Championship this weekend, winning by eight strokes over second-place golfer Si Woo Kim.
After experiencing five runner-up finishes this past season, the postseason win in Memphis, Tennessee, was a welcome sight for Scheffler, who shared his reaction to the victory with CBS Sports' Amanda Balionis.
"I've had some close calls this year. I feel like I kept saying at the end of each tournament, 'Man, it feels like I'm playing pretty good, just little things aren't going my way,'" Scheffler said .
He experienced some misfortune when one of his shots bounced off a sprinkler system on the course, and then rolled down the course and into the nearby water. However, he shook off that bad luck and stayed focused.
"Going into today, I just wanted to try to do my best, try and execute," he said. "Did a good job of staying in it and bouncing back ... Was able to kind of relax."

Scheffler hadn't won a tournament since the season-opening American Express Golf Tournament, which occurred in January.
He'd achieved second-place finishes at this year's 3M Open, Cadillac Championship, RBC Heritage, Travelers Championship, and The Masters.
Balionis mentioned how statistically this is Scheffler's best season of his career and asked what he's most proud of about it.
"I think I've been really consistent. ... Outside of Amex, I felt like I didn't play as good early in the year as I could have. I felt like I was battling my swing a little bit. But just staying consistent, staying in it each week. That's what I'm most proud of I think, is just having the ability to fight and claw my way through things," he shared.
"It's nice to be able to pay it off with a win this week. Statistics are one thing, but being able to win golf tournaments is another," Scheffler admitted.
The latest win not only gave Scheffler his second of the season, but his 21st career PGA Tour win. Impressively, Scheffler has put himself in the history books as the third-youngest golfer to reach 21 wins, behind Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
Claiming the St. Jude Championship this weekend put him atop the FedEx Cup standings, with Matt Fitzpatrick in second place and Cameron Young in third place (1,447 and 1,690 points behind lead, respectively).
This could be the sign that Scheffler has finally rediscovered his winning ways after coming so close multiple times this season. He'll next attempt to conquer the Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, next week for the BMW Championship.
