Some American schools are now turning to a hi-tech device to combat active shooters.
At least nine schools across the U.S. are now being equipped with the drones designed to distract a school shooter until police arrive.
The drones by flashing strobe lights, sounding sirens, and spraying pepper gel.
The aircraft is called Campus Guardian Angel, and it can ram into a threat at 50 miles per hour.
Mithril Defense is the Austin-based company behind the drones. They say they'll be stored at the schools so teachers can activate them during an emergency.
"They are operated remotely from Texas. These are our tender babies, and they are now going to have to be in a place where there are drones flying around," parent Kim Carroll said.
Critics also argue the drones could misidentify a threat, arguing that school resources should go towards preventing gun violence.
So far, the schools installing the new tech are in Florida, Georgia, and Colorado.
