Ella Langley seemingly fires back after Doja Cat’s brutal take on her chart-topping hit ‘Choosin’ Texas

Add Page Six on Google Ella Langley seems to be having fun with her quick rise to superstardom.

The "Choosin' Texas" singer posted a carousel of new photos and videos to social media this week, and, in her caption, she seemed to poke fun at another artist's apparent dismissal of her accomplishments.

"Ella Langley? What is that?" she wrote, appearing to reference comments made by pop singer Doja Cat earlier this week.

During an appearance on the "Sundae Conversation" podcast, Doja Cat was asked if she was a fan of Langley, to which she responded, "I don't know what that is."

She sounded out her name a couple of times, and when the podcast hosts suggested she listen to Langley, telling her that she'd like her, she said, "OK."

Her comments earned mixed reactions, with some praising her for being authentic in her response about Langley and others accusing her of lying about not knowing who she is.

On Aug. 25, she went live on Instagram, according to E! News , and spoke further about Langley and her comments on the podcast.

"I really don’t just give a f— about country music, and I don’t understand what’s so hard to believe about that," she reportedly said. "I never cared. I like that one Keith Urban song from 2004."

Doja Cat said that Langley is "probably a fine lady," but "I don’t care for that type of s— at all. It doesn’t inspire me. It doesn’t make me feel good."

According to E!, she listened to "Choosin' Texas" on the stream, then said, "This is not my vibe, but she has a very pretty voice. If this is No. 1 on the charts, I’m sure it’s on the radio. I could see them playing this s— on the radio. I don’t like it, but that’s fine. It’s very earwormy it sounds like, it’s like [a] catchy melody. I get it, and she’s pretty."

Fox News Digital has reached out to Doja Cat for comment.

In the comments on Langley's post, fans were quick to draw the connection to Doja Cat's original comments.

"We all know… Doja just wants to Be Her," one person wrote.

Another commented, "Messy with that caption 😂 it’s what I’m here for."

Several Doja Cat fans came to her defense, pointing out that while Langley is undeniably experiencing a huge moment in country music, the pop singer is successful in her own right.

Doja Cat has racked up billions of streams, and she's released multiple songs that have reached multi-platinum status. In 2022, she and SZA won the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance for their song "Kiss Me More," and she's been nominated several times.

Langley is breaking records with her smash hit "Choosin' Texas." She's spent 19 weeks at the top of Billboard's Hot 100, making the Alabama native's chart-topping anthem the longest-running No. 1 by a female country artist in history.
