Rock band ZZ Top cancels concert hours before show due to undisclosed ‘personnel matters

Add Page Six on Google ZZ Top abruptly canceled their show Wednesday just hours before they were set to perform.

The classic rockers were scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, but announced that they were forced to cancel due to "unforeseen personnel matters " in a message posted on their official Instagram account.

Frontman Billy Gibbons also shared in a statement, “Insurmountable obstacles require canceling our Hollywood Bowl performance."

"Friends, fans and followers of ZZ Top are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption," he added.

No further details were provided. According to ZZ Top's official website, the band is still scheduled to play their show Friday at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno, California.

Page Six reached out to the band's rep for comment, but didn't receive an immediate response.

Cheap Trick was also supposed to perform at the Hollywood Bowl Wednesday, but the band announced on Instagram that they were instead performing at a much smaller venue.

"In place of the now canceled scheduled Aug 5th show, we will be playing a very special, intimate show at The Troubadour in West Hollywood!" the message reads. "Come down for a very special evening with us!"

ZZ Top was formed in 1969 by Gibbons. The rock band also includes drummer Frank Beard and bassist Elwood Francis. Francis replaced original member Dusty Hill, who died in 2021.

Hill died in his sleep at the age of 72.

The legendary band has released 15 studio albums and sold an estimated 50 million records. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

The New York Post spoke to Gibbons, 76, in January, and he said he had no plans to stop touring even after performing for 57 years.

“It simply is the greatest job in the world,” he told The Post. “Go to work by playing … and looking ahead to playing it again! Why stop?”
