An English Premier League side had to change its pre-season plans thanks to Donald Trump and other world leaders.
With the 2026 World Cup now over, attention has turned back towards club football, with the MLS campaign already ongoing and leagues around Europe set to kick off in August.
Ahead of the new season, most teams are now in the middle of pre-season tours, but Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion had to change their plans thanks to Donald Trump and others damaging some pitches earlier this summer.

Brighton forced to move pre-season camp after Donald Trump and others damage soccer pitches
The 52nd G7 Summit took place from June 15 to June 17 in Evian-les-Bains, a commune in Eastern France
Trump, former UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron were among the leaders in attendance.
When many of the leaders arrived, they used the soccer fields in Evian-les-Bains as landing spots for their helicopters.
This, as expected, damaged the soccer pitches, and the turf did not recover in time for when Brighton were expected to use them.
The Seagulls recently sent a team to review the condition of the pitches, but they were unhappy and have now had to alter their trip to France.
Instead, the Premier League club have moved their European pre-season camp to Austria, as per the Mirror.
This obviously isn’t ideal for Brighton ahead of the 2026/27 campaign getting underway towards the end of August.
Once their camp is over, the English team will begin their proper season on August 23 with a home meeting against Aston Villa as they aim to build on their eighth-place finish from last term.
