The fifth and final major of the season is set to be electric, with so many of the top contenders out to fulfil lofty personal ambitions at Royal Lytham & St Annes, none moreso than Ryu Hae-ran and Nelly Korda.

Victory would see Miyu Yamashita become the first player to go back-to-back in a major since Yani Tseng in 2011, a scenario that isn't out of the question in current form. The 24-year-old has made the top-five in four of the past six tournaments she's contested.

Yamashita's triumph a year ago consigned Charley Hull to her second Women's Open runner-up finish in three years, but she has a big reason to be cheerful this weekend: the past two winners of the Women's Open at Royal Lytham were Brits.
