People Will Say I’m Overreacting’ — Doctors Send Major Warning on Saints Rookie Jordyn Tyson’s Concerning Injury

The New Orleans Saints hoped Jordyn Tyson’s hamstring problems were finally in the rearview mirror, but two injury experts are warning that the rookie’s latest setback might make that optimism difficult to maintain.

Tyson sustained a right hamstring injury during Thursday’s joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Kellen Moore confirmed Friday that Tyson will miss time and acknowledged the issue could affect his Week 1 availability.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Tyson is seeking multiple opinions, with his return timeline still unclear. That detail immediately caught the attention of Jesse Morse, M.D., who viewed it as a potentially troubling sign.

“You don’t seek multiple medical opinions for a simple mild hamstring strain,” Morse wrote on X . “Jordyn Tyson is now on my Do Not Draft List.”

Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT, offered an even more pessimistic outlook. Mueller tracked Tyson’s hamstring history throughout the draft process.

“This is one of my rare ‘bad posts’ where people will say I’m overreacting,” Mueller wrote . He added that managers should prepare for Tyson to miss extended time rather than scramble for alternatives shortly before Week 1.

Mueller separately said fantasy managers should prepare for the possibility that Tyson misses half of the 2026 season. Neither Morse nor Mueller has examined Tyson, so their comments are independent analysis based on public information rather than an official diagnosis.

Moore, however, has been more measured. He said the Saints are still gathering information before establishing a recovery plan and pushed back on the idea that the latest injury stems from Tyson’s previous hamstring trouble.

The Saints head coach explained that Tyson’s foot slipped before he was shoved from behind on the play, adding that another player in the same position would have suffered the same injury.

Tyson’s Injury History Makes Warning Hard to Ignore

Even with Moore’s explanation, Tyson’s injury history gives cause for concern.

The Saints selected Tyson No. 8 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft after a productive Arizona State career that repeatedly ran into health problems. He missed time in 2025 with a hamstring injury and was unable to participate fully in the pre-draft testing process.

Tyson still posted an 81.2 PFN CFB WR Impact score in 2025, ranking 24th at the position. He caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns despite playing only nine games.

New Orleans carefully managed Tyson throughout the offseason before he opened training camp on the field. The rookie was expected to pair with Chris Olave and give Tyler Shough another major target.

For now, there is no official timetable, and the Saints have not announced the severity of the strain. The medical warnings are more aggressive than anything New Orleans has said publicly.

Still, “seeking multiple opinions” is not exactly the phrase Saints fans wanted to hear in August.
