Jack Dreyer credits next man up mentality for breaking Dodgers’ losing streak appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
After over a week without a win , the Los Angeles Dodgers finally got the W in their second of three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, with Jack Dreyer securing his first save of the 2026 season in extra innings after Edwin Diaz blew a 1-0 lead heading into the ninth.
Discussing what it was like to end LA’s losing streak in dramatic fashion after the game with Kirsten Watson, Dreyer credited the Dodgers’ next man up mentality for keeping him ready to go when his number was called.
“Yeah, I think that’s just the epitome of, you know, the next guy up mentality, and we had to use a lot of guys today, but I think our offense battled really well,” Dreyer said. “I think the defense made good plays behind us, and so, you know, whenever our name is called. We’re just gonna be ready for that call.”

Asked about navigating extra innings for the first time this year, Dreyer noted that while the ghost runner on second made things interesting, he trusted his teammates and was ultimately rewarded for it.
“Yeah, they’re a great team. You know, obviously with the guy on second that changes things in extra innings,” Dreyer said. “But you know our offense came together and was able to score a run, and so I had all the confidence in the world and Fedy behind the plate in our defense, so it was just fun to go out there and compete.”
Now finally back in the win column for the first time in August, the Dodgers will look to make it two in a row on Sunday as they try for their first series win since July’s showdown against the Seattle Mariners.
