On Wednesday, Ravens special teams coordinator Anthony Levine Sr. said Loop has been working on nailing his long-range attempts during training camp, hitting a 57-yard attempt on Tuesday.
"We have the confidence in Tyler Loop to go out and make any kick from anywhere on the field," Levine said , via the Ravens' website. "He's proven that so far in training camp. Yesterday (Tuesday), he made a 57-yarder, a 53-yarder, a 49-yarder. He made several under 45.
"Right now, we love where he's at. Love his confidence, love him being consistent. As long as he keeps doing that, he'll keep getting better."
Loop went into the offseason on a sour note, pushing a 44-yard attempt wide right as time expired in a 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18. Had Loop made the field, the Ravens would have made the playoffs by winning the AFC North.
Following the loss, Loop told reporters he was eager to get back on the field and move on from the miss.
"We talk about having a one-minute rule," Loop said . "Obviously, this one will be a little bit longer than a minute, because it is the last play of the season. It's going to be one of those things that next time I get back out on the field to kick a ball, it's time to move on."
The Ravens have faith in Loop to execute from long distance after his struggles as a rookie. He appeared to take a step in the right direction on Tuesday, and will need to keep that consistency through the preseason.
