CBS Sports includes Ohio State in top its ten 2026 pass-catching units

There's little doubt which college team has been the best at the wide-receiver position over the last decade or so. It's Ohio State . Heck, you can even go back in history, and the Buckeyes have had some of the best to ever play the position for a long time; it's just that we're in the golden age now with guys like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka, and Jeremiah Smith .

This season, Smith is back to terrorize opposing secondaries and coaches, but is the entire unit as good as what we've seen in the past when there have been two elite-type guys to throw to? According to CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeye r, there might be a bit of a drop-off compared to previous years because he has Ohio State among the top ten when it comes to pass-catching units, but checking in at No. 5 in the country.

To be fair, that also includes tight ends, but it's a little surprising because there's Smith, veteran Brandon Inniss who will be more productive this season, and some significant depth. There's even another five-star freshman who could see the field often in Chris Henry Jr .

Which teams does Brockermeyer have over the Buckeyes? He has fellow Big Ten member Oregon , as the No. 1 unit, followed by Miami (FL) (2), Texas (3), and Tennessee (5). Rounding out the top ten list is Texas A&M (6), Florida (7), Indiana (8), Alabama (9), and Clemson (10).

Brockermeyer clearly still likes what Ohio State has in the room based on his comments, but just not to the level of the four above it.

" Jeremiah Smith  is the best prospect I've ever evaluated and would probably be open if  Ohio State  threw him the ball on every snap. Smith caught 87 passes for nearly 1,250 yards last season and remains a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses, especially given the talent surrounding him. There is little left to say about the nation's top player. He's the best receiver and overall prospect in college football."

Brandon Inniss  is a reliable target and polished route runner who excels in contested-catch situations and consistently moves the chains. He is expected to take on a larger role in 2026."

Chris Henry Jr. , one of the highest-rated high school receiver prospects in the country, is expected to start immediately and make a significant impact as a freshman thanks to his combination of size and rare athleticism.

"Transfers  Devin McCuin  and  Kyle Parker  both bring proven production and should contribute, while freshman slot receiver  Brock Boyd  turned heads during the spring. At tight end,  Nate Roberts  and  Hunter Welcing  are expected to handle the majority of the snaps."

It's hard to believe there are four teams with better pass-catching units than what's on the banks of the Olentangy, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we'll just see how things pan out during the season.
