Absolutely wild': Australian gymnasts top off Games with two more golds

Australia's artistic gymnasts finished the Commonwealth Games in golden fashion with two more titles on the final day of competition.

Breanna Scott won the women's balance beam gold before Jesse Moore took out the men's parallel bars crown.

The Australian artistic gymnastics team finish the Games with four gold, one silver and four bronze.

Breanna Scott and Jesse Moore have added to Australia's gold medal bonanza at the Commonwealth Games, taking out individual apparatus titles to finish their campaign in Glasgow.

Just minutes after Scott nailed a flashy balance beam routine to take out the title on her speciality apparatus, Moore hit every mark on the parallel bars to win another gold for Australia at Glasgow International Arena.

Scott scored 13.933 points for her routine, beating Singapore's Amanda Yap (13.233) and Lia-Monica Fontaine (13.00) of Canada.

Australian teammate and defending 2022 Birmingham champion Kate McDonald was last in eighth (12.166) after recovering from near-falls.

"[Balance beam] is definitely my favourite when it's going well," Scott said.

"It's kind of crazy, to be honest. It definitely hasn't sunk in yet.

"The last three days have just been absolutely wild.

"The team gold was such a special medal for all of us, and that was really the main goal coming into this.

"All of us in finals now getting these extra little medals is just topping it off."

Scott wrapped up in Glasgow by winning her third medal and second gold medal.

She had contributed to Australia's dominant team all-around victory, before claiming silver in the women's individual all-around.

Backing up Scott, Moore found redemption on the parallel bars after missing the podium for the rings and pommel horse events.

Australia's leading men's gymnast heading to Glasgow, Moore scored 14.000 points to pip Cypriot veteran Marios Georgiou (13.800 points) and Canada's Felix Dolci (13.300).

Scott and Moore's titles meant Australia medalled on every day of the five-day gymnastics competition in Glasgow.

Australia won nine medals, including four gold, behind Canada with 16 medals, seven of which were gold.

Moore said the gold medal was a weight off his shoulders.

"There's definitely been a bit of pressure building into these Commies with medal chances," Moore said.

"I knew I had one last crack to really have a go.

"This routine, I've done for years, so I could really trust myself and really go for it.

The 23-year-old will leave the Games with three medals, having won a team bronze and an individual all-around bronze.

McDonald missed out on adding to her individual uneven bars gold and finished sixth in the floor routine final, ahead of 2022 Birmingham breakout star Georgia Godwin in seventh.

James Hardy settled for a fifth-placed finish on vault after claiming floor and rings bronze the day before, while 19-year-old Ritam Malik finished sixth on the parallel bars.
