Odell Beckham Jr. is making his return to the NFL this year and is getting his first real taste of the action during the New York Giants’ training camp.
John Harbaugh has welcomed OBJ back into the league and offered him the opportunity to go again where it all started back in 2014.
It is now seven years since the wide receiver last put up over 1000 yards in a season following a career filled with injury issues.
The last team OBJ played for was the Miami Dolphins back in 2024, but he only made nine receptions across his nine games played.
Following some time away from the league, Beckham Jr. is ready to go again and what he has shown in training camp has surprised Giants GM Joe Schoen.

Joe Schoen shocked by Odell Beckham Jr. in New York Giants training camp
There is already a strong wide receiver group for Harbaugh to select from, with Beckham Jr. fighting for his spot on the roster.
It is now years on from when OBJ was showing his WR1 quality, but Schoen has admitted he has been pleasantly surprised with what he’s seen from the 33-year-old.
“How well he moved. I would say, after taking a year off and not being in the league in 2025, he looked good in our first workout,” Schoen told the media.
“He probably needed to get in a little bit better shape, but we brought him back again, coached him, and challenged him, and he was in better shape.
“He can still get open, he’s still got really good hands, and he catches the ball well. He was only there for a short time in the spring, so we’ll see how this looks. He was in really good shape for the conditioning tests, and I’m excited to see what he looks like with more time around him.”
OBJ still has a lot of work to do if he is going to win himself a spot on the roster for the 2026 season, though.
After all, the Giants did spend their 74 overall pick in the 2026 draft on wide receiver Malachi Fields out of Notre Dame.
There is a young and exciting core of wide receivers on display in New York, perhaps there is a leadership role to play for OBJ, if nothing else.
