Andrew Marsh says Michigan coaches making offense more explosive

If there's one shining spot from last year's team entering this year, a player who gives fans hope that things could be different than they've been the past two years, it's wide receiver Andrew Marsh.

Marsh didn't begin the 2025 season as the starter, but he finished as the leading receiver -- despite having not seen much time in his first four games of the year, and despite being a true freshman last season. Now, entering year two, Marsh is ready to take things to another level.

With that, he told Rich Eisen on The Rich Eisen Show that he's a much-changed player compared to where he was a year ago at this time.

"I would say I'm just different in every way. Bigger, stronger, faster," Marsh said. "A lot of stuff in my game I've kind of tried to work on, like just being able to create more separation, running cleaner routes, and kind of just expanding my route tree and being better off the line and releases and stuff like that."

Marsh thrived even in the old offense, led by former head coach Sherrone Moore. With Kyle Whittingham now leading the charge, he brought his offensive coordinator, Jason Beck, from Utah, who had the No. 4 offense in the country a year ago. Though it was a run-heavy attack, between Whittingham, Beck, and wide receivers coaches Micah Simon and Marques Hagans, Marsh feels a lot more comfortable with the leadership in Ann Arbor as it pertains to the pass game.

"I like them. I mean, they've come in, they've kind of added structure to some places of the team," Marsh said. "And I think that has really helped us as well as their scheme. I love the scheme that they're bringing in.

"I feel like it's going to be open. It's going to be explosive. Guys will be flying around the field and really kind of just have more freedom throughout the offense."

Like Marsh, all offseason, tight end Zack Marshall has noted that the offense allows 'more freedom' to the pass catchers. He had shared that the wideouts and tight ends have more capability to get open and make plays down the field.

Marsh expanded more as to what that means, feeling confident that there will be a more prevalent aerial attack for the Wolverines this year.

"I just feel like this year you'll definitely see the ball in the air more," Marsh said. "We'll be able to throw the ball around more, get it in different guys' hands and really just be more explosive as a whole. And I think that'll open up the running game as well."

Summer conditioning will continue until week's end, when fall camp will begin in earnest for the September 5 season opener.
