Police: Man pushes woman to ground, sexually assaults her in Brooklyn By Sonia Rincón Monday, August 31, 2026 2:24AM Stream New York's #1 news - AccuWeather - original content 24/7 PARK SLOPE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police say a man ambushed a woman, shoved her to the ground and sexually assaulted her in the street in Brooklyn.
A man in gray cargo shorts, a black short-sleeved shirt and a tan cap was seen crossing 15th Street near 5th Avenue in Park Slope just after 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Police say he approached a 38-year-old woman from behind and assaulted her right in front of businesses and their cameras.
"It's usually a very safe area. I let my daughter walk everywhere. I'm really shocked to hear that," said Wiebke, who lives nearby.
Neighbors who saw the video are hoping someone recognizes him.
"The right person might know that person. But it's just like, that's terrible. That's disgusting," said Willy, who works nearby.
In the interest of protecting the victim's privacy, police aren't saying where she was going or coming from at that time. However, she did report that she did not know the man who attacked her, which is why police are asking for help identifying him.
Police have also put up fliers in the area describing what happened, where and when, in the hope of jogging someone's memory.
In the meantime, neighbors tell Eyewitness News they will stay vigilant and feel a lot safer when this predator is held accountable.
