Bryson DeChambeau endures nightmare at LIV Golf New York on day one as angry footage emerges

Bryson DeChambeau experienced all sorts of problems during his opening round at LIV Golf New York on Thursday.

DeChambeau is chasing down Jon Rahm as he aims to bring an end to the Spaniard’s run of three successive season-long titles.

The two-time US Open champion has to outscore the 31-year-old by 19.04 at Trump Bedminster this week in order to take the season-long race down to the final week.

However, Bryson DeChambeau ‘s hopes of doing just that were dashed on day one at LIV Golf New York.

Trump Bedminster is playing host to the event this week, but the 32-year-old American failed to produce the goods around the 7,651-yard par-71 layout.

DeChambeau currently faces an uncertain future with LIV Golf , but he would have wanted to let his golf do the talking this week.

Unfortunately for him, his golf game did do the talking, but not in the way he would have liked.

DeChambeau’s round got off to the worst possible start as he made a double bogey six on his opening hole of the day.

The 32-year-old followed that up with bogeys on the second and fourth holes.

He then parred his way up to the 10th hole, before making an encouraging birdie on the 11th hole.

However, the new-found sense of optimism for DeChambeau and his fans did not last long.

He made bogeys on 15 and 16 before parring the final two holes to shoot a round of five-over par 76 on day one at LIV Golf New York.

It was a miserable round of golf – one that leaves him 12 strokes adrift of the leader, Joaquin Niemann, with 54 holes left to play.

DeChambeau will now need three rounds in the mid-60s to have a chance of remaining in the season-long title race with Jon Rahm.

DeChambeau was clearly frustrated as he walked onto the fifth tee at Trump National Bedminster.

He was four-over par through his opening four holes when he arrived on the fifth tee.

DeChambeau angrily slammed his water bottle into the trash can, but in typical fashion given his poor start, he actually missed his target.

DeChambeau will be fuming after his opening round at LIV Golf New York.

However, he now knows exactly what he needs to do.

DeChambeau will come out firing at every flag on Friday, and his next few rounds should be exceptional viewing for LIV Golf fans.
