Hector Fort’s Barcelona exit is moving closer, but Borussia Dortmund may not have a clear path to sign the young defender after all.

For now, the Bundesliga side remain in the strongest position to sign the 20-year-old, with Fort open to continuing his development in the Bundesliga.

However, Real Sociedad are now pushing to keep him in La Liga.

According to Mundo Deportivo , the Basque club is actively exploring the conditions needed to complete the transfer.

Barcelona, on their part, have already made their valuation clear, while also showing flexibility over the structure of a potential deal.

The final weeks of the summer transfer window have become important for Fort. The defender has been training separately from the main group for several weeks and does not feature in Hansi Flick’s plans.

With a clear route into the first team no longer available, Fort is focused on finding a club where he can play regularly and continue his development.

On that note, Borussia Dortmund have emerged as the leading destination.

The Bundesliga side was said to be well positioned in the race, while Fort was willing to make the move to Germany.

However, Real Sociedad are not standing aside . The Spanish club has been following the situation. The latest update is that the La Liga side is now working on possible ways to bring the Barcelona defender to San Sebastian.

The outlet mentions that Barcelona have placed a valuation of between €15 million and €20 million on Fort.

Furthermore, the club is also willing to consider a different formula to make a deal easier, but the price will only come down if they retain 50% of the player’s rights or secure a buy-back clause.

Real Sociedad are therefore studying every possible structure for the deal.

For now, though, it has been suggested that Dortmund have the advantage over them, meaning that the player’s wish is likely to define the next step.
