Rialto officer jumps into action to save choking 3-year-old boy, dramatic bodycam video shows Wednesday, August 12, 2026 4:10AM Police received a frantic 911 call from a mother who said her son was choking on vomit and was not breathing. Bodycam video shows the boy's dramatic rescue. RIALTO, Calif. (KABC) -- Dramatic bodycam video shared by the Rialto Police Department shows an officer saving a 3-year-old boy who was choking.
Police received a frantic 911 call on Aug. 5 from a mother who said her 3-year-old son was choking on vomit and was not breathing.
The mother told dispatchers that she was driving when she realized her son was experiencing a medical emergency. She pulled over in the 300 block of E. Foothill Boulevard and called 911.
When officers arrived, they rushed into action, using a LifeVac airway clearance device to clear the obstruction in the child's airway and restore his ability to breathe.
Bodycam video shows the boy wake back up after the LifeVac was used.
"You OK, buddy? You OK?" the officer asked, comforting the boy.
Paramedics with the Rialto Fire Department took the child to a local medical center for further treatment. Officials said the child made a full recovery.
Bodycam video also captured the moment the officers were reunited with the boy and his mother at the hospital.
"Thank you, officer... thank you. Because I felt my son was dying on me. And he arrived to help me, and that's when he used the LifeVac, and I saw he reacted," the boy's mother said in tears at the hospital.
"This incident highlights the importance of equipping first responders with lifesaving tools and providing officers with the training necessary to respond effectively during critical medical emergencies. The quick and decisive actions of the responding officers, combined with the care provided by Rialto Fire Department personnel, helped bring a terrifying situation to a positive conclusion," the Rialto Police Department wrote in a statement.
