Florida State wants to add to the two commitments they have in the 2028 recruiting cycle. One of their targets is five-star edge Kameron McGee out of Brother Rice High School in Chicago, Illinois, who is arguably the best player in the country.
FSU extended an offer to McGee on June 19. That's a very short time ago, but the Seminoles have made a huge impression during that span. When McGee talked about the schools that are recruiting him the best, Florida State was mentioned.
"I think Georgia, Oregon, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Notre Dame," said McGee via 247Sports .
The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder is the No. 25 player nationally and the No. 7 edge per the 247Sports composite rankings. He's also the No. 2 prospect in the state of Illinois. 247Sports is even higher on him, ranking him as the No. 1 prospect in the country.
McGee was a monster during his sophomore campaign. He registered 54 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. He helped Brother Rice go 13-1 and win the Illinois 7A state title against St. Rita High School in a 16-0 shutout. McGee had two sacks and four tackles for loss in the win.
As he enters his junior year, McGee is looking to take some game visits during the season. One of them is a trip to Tallahassee during an early-season matchup in Week 1.
"I'm thinking about going to Texas vs. Ohio State at Texas. I think I'll go to Florida State vs. SMU at Florida State. I'm going to go to Miami at some point, but I'm not sure when. I'm going to an Oregon game and a Georgia game too. Maybe a few others," said McGee.
Now that McGee has named Florida State one of his top schools, they need to ramp up their efforts even more.
