All the Burning Questions We Have After ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day

As Spider-Man: Brand New Day quickly approaches the $2 billion mark at the box office, we feel it's time to ask some questions we have now that we've lived with the latest Peter Parker adventure for a few days. Here's everything we're still wondering about after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And while it's not all spoilers, it's a lot of spoilers . So, if you haven't dropped your $15 yet, here's your final warning.

When Peter Parker was in high school and living with his aunt, the fact that he had a roof over his head and food on the table made sense. But high school is over, Aunt May is gone, and literally no one knows who he is. Nevertheless, Peter affords a pretty nice little apartment and all sorts of wild tech. Did Aunt May leave him money in her will? Does he get some kind of Avengers stipend? He surely isn't working for The Daily Bugle, so what gives?

Multiple times in Brand New Day , we learn that Peter saved Frank on Staten Island. It becomes a kind of point of contention between them. And yet, we never learn specifically what happened and with whom. Ultimately, it doesn't matter as their relationship has a pretty healthy arc, but we're still curious.

When Jean goes into Peter's mind, she keeps coming up against this moment of Aunt May sitting with Peter on his bed. It feels more like a dream or a fantasy than anything else. A moment that encompasses May's wisdom and meaning in Peter's life. But the bag Tony Stark put Peter's suit in is there too, and it has us wondering: is that an actual memory? And, if so, did it happen immediately after May saw Peter at the end of Homecoming ?

Literally no one in the world knows that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. And yet, at a certain point, Jean Grey just shows up at his house and says finding him wasn't hard for someone like her. There's no specific explanation outside of that. So did she somehow follow him? Is it just convenient writing? Was a scene deleted? We don't know.

I think I can answer this one. After Jean finds Peter, they race to MJ, a race that Jean eventually wins. But at a certain point, the audience thinks Peter has won because he traps Jean above the city in a helicopter, outside of her jump radius. And yet, if you remember Jean's sister, Sara, explaining the powers to her, she says that you can just go back to the beginning at any point. So we think Jean left the pilot, went back to wherever her body was, and then hightailed it from there.

After Jean saves Peter, we see her on a bus going out of the city. The bus drives through a lot of beautiful fall foliage, but there's no set destination. There doesn't need to be, as we'll certainly see her again in a future movie, but the foliage does, of course, bring upstate New York to mind. Someplace like Westchester? Where Professor X has a certain school?

Every mutant has a different origin, but it's certainly curious that both Jean and her sister Sara had powers. In the movie, it's implied that they got them while they were younger, literally mutating as children. Were they not born with them? How did it happen? Did they get exposed to something? Why was it both of them? What DNA made it possible? It's unclear if this is relevant or not, but it's worth discussing.

Much of the end of Brand New Day focuses on MJ and Ned slowly starting to reintegrate with Peter. MJ finds the letter he wrote. Ned realizes this "Peter" dude he randomly has a handshake with is Spider-Man. Do any of their old memories actually come back? We don't think so and there's no real evidence of it, but anything is possible.

He's stuck with Thrawn, of course. Oh, we mean Eman Esfandi, the actor who plays Ezra Bridger in Star Wars but is also MJ's new boyfriend in Brand New Day. MJ mentions that she doesn't tell him where she is because he'd just ask her a bunch of questions, but after that one interaction at the party, he never really shows up again. It sure seems like that this Peter guy cares more about MJ than this dude. So…

Brand New Day makes it pretty clear that while MJ is flattered by Peter, she doesn't want to be with him. But does that mean she's wholly against the idea of getting to know him again? We think so. It would just be too weird to start dating someone who knows everything about you, literally, while you know nothing about them. But never say never.

So we've got Punisher living a pretty normal life, by Punisher standards. We've got Yelena leading the New Avengers but not using their massive building as an office. We've got a Hulk who has a regular day job and no active signs of injury. Yes, it's been four years since No Way Home, but it's hard to say where this takes place in regards to things such as Daredevil or Fantastic Four . The easiest way to put it? It's after everything else.

When last we saw Hulk on the big screen (we saw him in She-Hulk with a son, don't forget), he was helping Shang-Chi unlock the mysteries of his Ten Rings. At that time, he was still healing from an arm injury caused by the Infinity Gauntlet. Clearly, it's healed now, but we're still wondering how long it took.

Both Hulk and Punisher are in Brand New Day as reflections of Peter. One to show what a hero's life is like without any meaningful human contact. The other is to show how hard it is to control newfound powers. But each is also a key piece in the overall tapestry of the MCU, and since neither has been confirmed for anything else in the future just yet, we're just curious where they'll pop up next. X-Men ? Secret Wars ? We'll see.

We know the future of the MCU is about mutants. And, in Brand New Day , Peter Parker basically creates a technology that combats mutations. Seems like a technology that, if in the wrong hands, could be very detrimental to a certain upcoming team of mutants. A few characters mention this in the movie, so it's obviously an important thread.

We've discussed this a bit already, but at the very end of the credits, we see Ned's Spidey Tracker track Spider-Man...
